Well, they finally got their website working. Below is a link to the Hot FM New Years Eve Party 2010.

Under their "What To Do" link, they state that the ceremonial ball lighting is at 5:30PM. Wasn't that just done on a certain Northwest flight from Amsterdam to Detroit? :-))) The Oak Ridge Boys sang about it...you remember!
al-Qaeda, al-Qaeda
My groin is on fire
For al-Qaeda
Anyway, it's gonna be the best ball drop in Grand Rapids since my underwear waistband broke last week. :-))))))
And I'm sorry but "beer tent" and 20-degree weather just don't mix real well. Because of this, Rosa Parks Circle will be temporarily renamed Via Dolorosa Parks Circle. :-)))
Maybe I'll see you down there. :-)))

And now...the classic repost...
January 1, 2009
OK, I'm probably the only person in North America awake right now. I
think I'm even up before my good friend and neighbor John! Elliot, my dear son, woke at
about 3:00AM crying. I made him a bottle, put him back in his crib, and, well, he's
sleeping! Laid in bed until 4:30 and decided to get up and write a little something. Like to hear it? Here
it goes!
I was looking out the windows at 50 Monroe (fitty) yesterday afternoon
watching the construction crews assemble the crane and tower from which they dropped a lighted
ball, very similar to the one in New York, only the one in Times Square has a lot of lights and
cost some real money. :-) I think ours was an old 50-gallon drum with chrome paint and some used
Christmas tree lights.
"Oh, you should see what it looks like from out here!"
I called Marci as I was watching them assemble this, this, New
Year's Eve on the Grand (c) and I told her that it's kinda pathetic to watch a hick town like GR try to
be NY. :-) Nothing against hick towns - I live in Hudsonville - but we just started serving booze in
The Hud so we've got work to do to catch up with Gotham. :-))
The headliner for the big shindig was a guy named Darryl Worley. He's a
country, umm, star, and Sean Hannity uses him at his Freedom Concerts. He wrote a song after
911 called, "Have You Forgotten?" Hell yes I've forgotten - that was New York, not
Grand Rapids! :-)))) If he ever pens a song about a downed Medivac chopper, I might not forget that.
DOH!!! Maybe Alan Jackson could write a little something about that event. Sing along
with me...
"Where were you when the blades stopped turnin', on that May day..."
I guess this is the first year in what will soon become a GR tradition
- the mentally unstable gathering in 15-degree weather to say their oohs and ahhs in unison. The only
thing lacking is a host, and may I suggest Dick Clark? He puts the "tic" in articulate. (Lord I
apologize, and be with the starving pygmies down in New Guinea.)
Two stories below...seems we want to be like New York and the
Motor City. :-))
I drive right down Market Street every morning past the location where
cops fatally busted caps into a clubber. It was at Lady Godiva's Showgirls. Yes, just
like 7th Avenue in NY, GR has its very own, uhhh, gentlemen's club. :-)) I guess the poor chap was
on the receiving end of the chambers of commerce. Not sure yet how many chambers the
cop had to use.
Well, gotta go...my coffee's done.
